HaloTag

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Write to us at contact@halotag.app.

Is HaloTag free?

Yes. Your account, profiles, printable QR codes, alerts, test alerts and messages are free.

Does the finder need an app?

No. The finder scans the tag with the phone camera and a web page opens in their language. They do not need an account either.

What does the finder see?

Only what you chose for the profile: a first name or a nickname, a short message, the languages understood. Never your address, and your phone number only if you decided to show it.

How am I alerted?

By notification on the phones where you turned them on, and by email or text message to your confirmed contacts. Text messages depend on availability in your country. Send a test alert to check that everyone receives it.

How do I get notifications on an iPhone?

Open HaloTag in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”. Then open HaloTag from the Home Screen, sign in and turn on notifications on the Notifications page of your space.

What happens if nobody answers?

HaloTag alerts your next contacts after a few minutes, and the finder’s page suggests what to do next, such as calling the local emergency number for a person.

The QR code is damaged. What can the finder do?

Each tag carries a short code such as HT-7K3M-Q9XP. The finder can type it on halotag.app/f.

I lost a tag or want to stop it working.

From your space, you can pause a tag, replace it with a new one or revoke it. The profile and its contacts stay the same.

In which languages does HaloTag work?

In 33 European languages. The finder’s page follows their phone’s language, and your contacts receive alerts in the language your household chooses.

Can I use HaloTag for my child or an elderly relative?

Yes. Create a profile for a child or for an adult who may need help. The strictest privacy settings apply, and the finder’s page shows safety advice and the local emergency number.
